Wow...our first landing and we are so excited to already be on the islands our first afternoon. The cove is beautiful. All of these islands are a product of volcanic eruptions so the sand is soft white and the rocks are that stunning black.

Chilaxing on the sand was a Galapagos native, the Santa Cruz Land Iguana. These guys just sit and sun all day then move slightly, only to get more sun.

There were hundreds of crabs on these islands and there colors were amazing!! They were that beautiful orange and red, but their bellies were blue. What cool creatures.

Beau and I were able to get close enough to the cactus to not die. Galapagos catci is awesome becuase it actually develops a woody stump after a few years.

We hiked back to a lagoon and saw some pink flamingos!! They were awesome, just filter feeding for microscopic crabs and chillin on one leg, just for fun. They get their pink color from the beta ceratine in their food, so the one on the right, must be having some dietary problems.

After working up a good sweat while walking around on the island...Pato, our guide, said that we could go snorkeling. We quickly dove into the waves and were amazed by the diversity of life underwater despite the lack of coral. The animals just made their homes among the rocks. We swam with sea lions, they are soooooo playful!!! For as awkward as they are on land, they are so graceful and acrobatic in the water. We also saw a black tip shark...AMAZING! As we were getting back on the boat, there was a double rainbow...only in the Galapagos will you find something this unique.

We got back to the boat, ate dinner and decided to watch the sunset. Everything was so serene.

Later, we broke out the IPod speakers and chilled on the top deck looking at the stars. Here's Chad, Peter, and Beau, deep in coversation.
